NIHR Methodology Panel

As a part of the HTA programme, the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Methodology Panel currently prioritises and commissions appropriate research methods on behalf of the NHS.


Panel remit

The panel meets twice a year to consider suggestions for methodology research. Suggested topics are prioritised according to their importance to the NHS, and research proposals are commissioned through a variety of routes.

The inaugural meeting of the NIHR Methodology Panel took place on Friday 4 May, with the second panel meeting due to take place on Wednesday 12 December.

The NIHR Methodology Panel is chaired by Professor Richard Lilford, who is based in the Department of Public Health and Epidemiology at the University of Birmingham.
