Professor Tom Walley Biography
Professor Tom Walley, Director, HTA programme
Professor Walley has been Director of the HTA programme since January 2004 and previously chair of the Pharmaceuticals Panel. He is Professor of Clinical Pharmacology at the University of Liverpool and also works as a consultant physician at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital. He has also been awarded a CBE by the Queen in 2008, for his services to medicine.
His main research interests include prescribing behaviour and pharmaceutical policy, and clinical-effectiveness and cost-effectiveness. He also heads up a research group at the University of Liverpool, focusing on drug prescribing.
